The world of contemporary art through the eyes of cinema.

Dart Festival –

Dart is the meeting point between cinema and art in Spain. It is the first documentary film festival dedicated to contemporary art born with the aim of intertwining culture and knowledge with the general public. To this end, it offers a selection of documentaries on the lives of artists, the creative processes, the research and the stories behind their works.

Dart showcases works by directors that document and tell the stories of artists, movements and collectives and their creative processes, while fostering appreciation and understanding of art through the eyes of the cinema. The festival program aims to provide crucial reflections on creativity and inspiration around contemporary art.

Dart’s objectives –

To offer a genre previously unexplored by the existing film festivals in Barcelona to focus our attention on contemporary art.

To promote the work of filmmakers and support the national and international documentary industry in order to stimulate research in this artistic field by professionals in the sector.

To generate new ways of experimenting and exploring art through cinema, offering a different framework when it comes to approaching and getting to know this type of proposal beyond galleries, museums, schools and through books and other media.

To explore the aesthetics and the intellectual role that art has in society through cinema, as well as the unequivocal will to show it as a living phenomenon in constant evolution.
